“…Thus Says The Lord…”
“Thus says the Lord, “For three transgressions of Edom [the descendants of Esau] and for four (multiplied delinquencies) I will not reverse its punishment or revoke My word concerning it, Because he pursued his brother Jacob (Israel) with the sword, Corrupting and stifling his compassions and casting off all mercy; His destructive anger raged continually, And he maintained [and nurtured] his wrath forever.” Amos 1:11 (AMP)
Today the Lord takes us into the book of Amos, a minor prophet who considers himself a shepherd and a farmer, he delivered God’s message, an oracle of judgement and the future restoration of Israel, today our verse speaks specifically to Edom as it declares, “Thus says the Lord, “For three transgressions of Edom [the descendants of Esau] and for four (multiplied delinquencies) I will not reverse its punishment or revoke My word concerning it, Because he pursued his brother Jacob (Israel) with the sword, Corrupting and stifling his compassions and casting off all mercy; His destructive anger raged continually, And he maintained [and nurtured] his wrath forever.”
Today as we take a moment in our prayers, we are reminded that God’s judgement is real, far greater than any judgment we experience from people, a judgment that addresses transgressions and multiplied delinquencies, a judgment that addresses our Ill-will and evil intent, as the word of God declares, thus says the Lord!
