“…Please, Test Your Servants For Ten Days…”

“Please, test your servants for ten days, and let us be given some vegetables to eat and water to drink.” Daniel 1:12 (Amp)

Today we find Daniel taken captive by a wicked force stronger and more powerful, placed in a rigorous three year civil service program in Babylon designed for the smartest and most skilled young men.

In this verse Daniel, proposes a solution that will help prevent compromise and keep God’s laws. Daniel finds favor and instead of the King’s Babylonian diet of delicacies and wine, he simply ask as scripture says, “Please, test your servants for ten days, and let us be given some vegetables to eat and water to drink.”

Today as we take a moment in prayer, let us reflect on Daniel’s perspective and the example he sets. Let us be mindful and sensitive to God’s will and His law so we can avoid compromise.

Let our prayer and petition be for God to allow us to be as Daniel, to walk carefully and intentionally in prestigious environments and situations that fail to honor God.

Let us forgo the prestige, the King’s delicacies, and wine and reach for that which please and honor God!
