“…Put Me Like A Seal…”
“Put me like a seal on your heart, Like a seal on your arm; For love is as strong as death, Jealousy is as severe and cruel as Sheol (the place of the dead). Its flashes are flashes of fire, [A most vehement flame] the very flame of the Lord!” Song of Solomon 8:6 AMP
Today at the top of our new year we come to the end of the book of Song of Songs, in this book it teaches us about love, it teaches us about the allegory of Christ’s love for His church. Today our verse reminds us of how strong love is and it introduces us to the cruelty of jealousy, our verse says, “Put me like a seal on your heart, Like a seal on your arm; For love is as strong as death, Jealousy is as severe and cruel as Sheol (the place of the dead). Its flashes are flashes of fire, [A most vehement flame] the very flame of the Lord!”
Today as we take a moment in our prayers at the top of this new year, we are encouraged by the Lord to love right. We are encouraged by the Lord to love as God loves us and we are reminded to guard against the cruelty of jealousy, as we place God’s love like a seal!
