“…You Shall Not See Your Countryman’s…”

“You shall not see your countryman’s ox or his sheep straying away or being stolen, and ignore [your duty to help] them; you shall certainly take them back to him.” ‭‭Deuteronomy‬ ‭22‬:‭1‬ ‭(AMP‬‬)

Today we continue in the book of Deuteronomy and God’s word teaches about the righteousness of God, God’s word teaches about the right thing to do, as it shares, “You shall not see your countryman’s ox or his sheep straying away or being stolen, and ignore [your duty to help] them; you shall certainly take them back to him.”

Today as we take a moment in prayer, we recognize that God’s word declares that the heart is desperately wicked (Jer 17:9), and here in the book of Deuteronomy, we are reminded of the right way to do things, we are reminded not to ignore our countryman’s possessions straying away or being stolen, but we are to take them back. Let us be graced not to ignore our countryman’s items straying or being stolen, let us be graced as the Bible says, to take them back, let us be graced as God’s word declares, You shall not see your countryman’s!
