“…What Are These Hebrews Doing Here?…”
“the Philistine commanders [having noticed David] said, “What are these Hebrews doing here?” Achish said to the Philistine commanders, “Is this not David, the servant of Saul king of Israel, who has been with me these days and years, and I have found no fault in him from the day he deserted to me to this day?” 1 Samuel 29:3 (AMP)
Today we get a glimpse in the life of David, we encounter David residing with King Achish of Gath amongst the Philistines because King Saul tried to kill David. Achish allowed David to move to Ziglag with 600 men and families for about a year and 4 months, and while there he tried to accompany King Achish into battle, however other Philistine commanders because of David’s victorious record mistrusted him, the scripture says, the Philistine commanders [having noticed David] said, “What are these Hebrews doing here?” Achish said to the Philistine commanders, “Is this not David, the servant of Saul king of Israel, who has been with me these days and years, and I have found no fault in him from the day he deserted to me to this day?”
Today as we take a moment in our prayers, be reminded that war often causes mistrust. The Philistine commanders noticed David and didn’t trust him. It is said God intervened so David wouldn’t have to fight against King Saul. Today be encouraged to understand your surroundings, be encouraged to understand those who are allies and those who mistrust and ask, what are these Hebrews doing here?
