“…Take A Census…”
“Take a census of all the congregation of the sons of Israel, by their families (clans), by their fathers’ households, according to the number of names, every male, head by head” Numbers 1:2 (AMP)
Today we move into the book of Numbers, which shares a portion of the story of the Israelites, God’s chosen people. God’s chosen people who experienced God’s faithfulness, presence, provision, and forbearance firsthand, even after their acts of rebellion, unfaithfulness, apostasy and all else, but today our verse shares with us about God’s command to Moses to number every male by name, twenty years and older fit for war, the scripture says, “Take a census of all the congregation of the sons of Israel, by their families (clans), by their fathers’ households, according to the number of names, every male, head by head.
Today as we take a moment in our prayers, let’s be reminded that God has counted the congregation by families, by their father’s households, according to the number of names, every male. head by head. So, what does that mean to us today, it means God is a God of order and organization. God knew that in order to establish a military force, to provision land and resources, to account for genealogical records and to take possession of the promised land, would all require order and it would require taking a census, taking inventory, and establishing order would be necessary!
So, today in your prayers, take a census of God’s provision, take a census and ask God for guidance and instruction to implement divine order and organization, let the Lord lead you as you take a census!
