“…Who Shall Go Up First…”
“Now it came about after the death of Joshua, that the sons (descendants) of Israel (Jacob) asked the Lord, “Who shall go up first for us against the Canaanites, to fight against them?” Judges 1:1 (AMP)
As we move into the book of Judges, we come to the scripture that reminds us that God will always finish the task. The children of Israel are in possession of the promised land and Joshua their great commander and leader has gone to be with God. The question now from God’s chosen people as they occupy the promised land, is shared with us in scripture as it reads, Now it came about after the death of Joshua, that the sons (descendants) of Israel (Jacob) asked the Lord, “Who shall go up first for us against the Canaanites, to fight against them?”
As we take a moment in our prayers, let’s be reminded to petition the Lord for those that will go up first for us, let’s be mindful that God will always finish the task, God will provide those that will go up first for us against the Canaanites to fight against them? But let us first be mindful with all sincerity to petition the Lord with, who shall go up first!
