“…Because Your Heart Was Tender…”
“because your heart was tender (receptive, penitent) and you humbled yourself before the Lord when you heard what I said against this place and against its inhabitants, that they should become a desolation and a curse, and because you have torn your clothes and wept before Me, I have heard you,” declares the Lord.” 2 Kings 22:19 (AMP)
Today we continue in the book of 2nd Kings and we come to the reign of King Josiah, the scripture says he was only eight years old when he became king and he reigned for thirty-one years in Jerusalem, he did what was right in the sight of the Lord. The scripture also tells us in the process of repairing the damages of the temple, the High Priest Hilkiah found the Book of the Law. After hearing the words in the Book, the King Josiah tore his clothing and sent to inquire of the Lord. This is where the Prophetess Huldah declares the word of the Lord as captured in scripture, because your heart was tender (receptive, penitent) and you humbled yourself before the Lord when you heard what I said against this place and against its inhabitants, that they should become a desolation and a curse, and because you have torn your clothes and wept before Me, I have heard you,” declares the Lord.
Today as we take a moment in our prayers, as we allow our tender hearts to be receptive, penitent, and humbled, we find our place in God, we find a place in prayer where we know that God has heard us, let’s be encouraged in the Lord because your heart was tender!
