“…Do Not Listen To Hezekiah…”
“Do not listen to Hezekiah,’ for this is what the king of Assyria says, ‘Make peace with me and come out to me, and each one of you will eat from his own vine and each from his own fig tree and each [one of you] drink from the water of his own cistern,” Isaiah 36:16 (AMP)
Today the Lord takes us into the threat and empty promises from the King of Assyria given by Rabshakeh his military commander, as Rabshakeh speaks to Eliakim who is in charge of King Hezekiah’s Royal household, Shebna the scribe, and Joah the historian, Rabshakeh declares, “Do not listen to Hezekiah,’ for this is what the king of Assyria says, ‘Make peace with me and come out to me, and each one of you will eat from his own vine and each from his own fig tree and each [one of you] drink from the water of his own cistern,”
Today as we take a moment in our prayers, we are reminded to keep silent and seek to hear from God, just as King Hezekiah, we are reminded of the enemies threats and empty promises, we are reminded to hold fast to God and God alone, even when the enemy demands, do not listen to Hezekiah!
