“…Eloi, Eloi, Lama Sabachthani?…”
“And at the ninth hour Jesus cried out with a loud voice, “Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani?” —which is translated, “My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?” Mark 15:34 (AMP)
Today as we embrace this new day, many are rattled by the heart breaking news about Kobe Bryant, his young daughter, and several others. Our scripture today reminds us that even Christ in obedience to the cross cried out to God in agony and suffering, the scripture says, And at the ninth hour Jesus cried out with a loud voice, “Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani?” —which is translated, “My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?”
Today in our prayers we have a very prominent person in sports to remember, along with his family and others. Many are affected by this tragic loss and many may very well feel as our Lord Jesus on the cross.
So today as we take a moment in our prayers, understand that the graciousness of our God allowed us to be here one more day, even if we can’t do anything else but be grateful and pray.
Let’s pray for Kobe Bryant’s family and the other families in the crash, let’s be reminded that Christ has paid it all for us on the cross when He cried with a loud voice, “Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani?”
