“…Pure and Unblemished Religion…”
“Pure and unblemished religion [as it is expressed in outward acts] in the sight of our God and Father is this: to visit and look after the fatherless and the widows in their distress, and to keep oneself uncontaminated by the [secular] world.” James 1:27 (Amp)
Today we move into the book of James, in this verse the Apostle James ministers to us about pure and unblemished religion and what that looks like, the scripture says, Pure and unblemished religion [as it is expressed in outward acts] in the sight of our God and Father is this: to visit and look after the fatherless and the widows in their distress, and to keep oneself uncontaminated by the [secular] world.
Today as we go into our prayers, this single verse holds us accountable to live a life that expresses in outward acts pure and unblemished religion. Our faith in Christ is important, but going to visit and look after the fatherless and the widows is just as important!
So, today in our prayers let’s be mindful of our fatherless and widows, let’s be mindful to express in outward acts our pure and unblemished religion, let us by the power of the Holy Spirit and the grace of our God to keep ourselves uncontaminated by the secular world’s morals and values!
