“…Here I am…”

“Now after these things, God tested [the faith and commitment of] Abraham and said to him, “Abraham!” And he answered, “Here I am.” Genesis 22:1 (Amp)

Today we are in the 22nd chapter of the book of Genesis and we get a glimpse of Abram’s who is now named Abraham, walk with God. In this chapter we experience Abraham’s deliberate and complete obedience to God, we experience his Godly fear with reverence and profound respect because he did not withhold his son, his only son of promise, the scripture says, Now after these things, God tested [the faith and commitment of] Abraham and said to him, “Abraham!” And he answered, “Here I am.”

Today as we take a moment in prayer, has God required anything of you and if so were you willing and able to respond, Here I am. In this powerful and transformational account of Abraham’s fear, reverence, and profound respect for God, the Lord tested the faith and commitment of Abraham. Abraham’s response was Here I am, this is the same response he offered God just before the Lord provided a ram in the bush. (Gen 22:13)

So, as we reflect in prayer, let’s not be afraid to honor the Lord for Godly fear, reverence, and profound respect for God, let’s not be hesitant to bless and honor God for the testing of our faith and commitment to God, which builds faith and character.

Let’s honor God in godly fear, reverence, and profound respect as we declare, here I am…
