“…He Saw a Well in the Field…”

“As he looked, he saw a well in the field, and three flocks of sheep lying there [resting] beside it because the flocks were watered from that well. Now the stone on the mouth of the well [that covered and protected it] was large,” Genesis 29:2 (Amp)

Today as we embark upon this new year, we move further into the book of Genesis, chapter 29. This verse tells about what Jacob saw after traveling over 3300 miles from Beersheba in haste. The scripture says, As he looked, he saw a well in the field, and three flocks of sheep lying there [resting] beside it because the flocks were watered from that well. Now the stone on the mouth of the well [that covered and protected it] was large,

Today as we take a moment in our prayers at the start of this new year, what is it that we see, can we see provision, a watering source, can we see protection, a large stone that covers the mouth of the well. It is imperative that we see what God has predestined for us in this new year. It is imperative that our eyes see God’s provision and His protection.

Today let’s remember that after Jacob fled Beersheba in haste and after traveling over 3300 miles, he looked and he saw a well in the field. In this day and age, it may not be a well, but in God’s grace let us be prepared, let us be enabled to look and see just as Jacob, as he looked, he saw a well in the field!
